Introduction

Hi, my name is Colin Marklowitz. I grew up along the Mississippi River in southwest Wisconsin in a small town called Fountain City, located approximately 30 minutes north of Lacrosse, WI. My canoe experience is limited to mostly short day trips, but over the last few summers I have been able to get out on the river fairly frequently. The area I grew up around has tons of islands and sloughs that are perfect for exploring in a canoe and in recent years I have been doing just that. My reasons for taking this class were that I was in need of a credit, it fit my schedule, and I want to learn how to be a better paddler, maybe learn some new stroke techniques. I'm real excited for the actual canoeing we will be doing in class, as well as the opportunity to meet other people who are into canoeing and maybe organizing some canoeing expeditions outside of class.
